THE editorial team from Michel Euesden’s Euro Weekly News’ head office in Benalmadena, Malaga, took part in the fifth annual walkathon for cancer charity Cudeca on Sunday, September 23 to raise money for the hospice which looks after patients suffering from terminal cancer, free of charge, and their families during the illness and in the subsequent bereavement process.
The team took part in the five-kilometre-long walk and the route led participants from the start of the event at the Sunset Beach Hotel, along the seafront in Benalmadena and down to the marina and back again to the hotel. There were several hundred charity fundraisers taking part in the walkathon this year, which also included a 10-kilometre walk and a two-kilometre walk.
Despite previous weather predictions, the day turned out to be warm and sunny adding to the good atmosphere and the stunning backdrop of the event. Arriving back at the hotel, although a little hot, the team were in good spirits and were delighted to learn they had raised 600 euros for such a deserving cause. Will it be the 10km one next year?
