Further controversy over La Linea tolls
GIBRALTAR – LA LINEA council has demanded that the President of the Junta de Andalucia, Jose Antonio Griñan, make it clear whose side he is on, Gibraltar or La Linea. After the controversy over the mayor of La Linea, Alejandro Sanchez, proposing a toll for tourists coming through La Linea on their way to Gibraltar, the council claims that Griñan’s statements on the matter were unclear.
They also say that he is “afraid of the British” something which they believe could have been prevented if “he had invested more to create jobs in La Linea”, so locals were not forced to look for work elsewhere. Instead, they claim he has positioned himself against the toll without even analyzing it and sided with Gibraltar.
